Colored pencils are a great way to get into art. You can create anywhere with affordable supplies and minimal mess! They allow a vivid use of color and attention to the smallest details. If you have taken Debra Rohr's beginning class or have some experience with drawing, this class will give you the opportunity to develop your drawing skills as you create three-dimensional flowers against a background of sky. Learn to work with layering of color and blending as you create texture, dimensionality, and shadows. We will use A Complete Guide to Drawing Florals in Colored Pencil by Cynthia Knox and Anne Kullberg as a reference in class and it is recommended that students purchase the book (available on Amazon) if they are interested in learning further. Students will use photographs as their models and receive detailed instruction on color selection, drawing techniques, pressure, and erasures. John Wren is a Denver artist who developed his craft through years of classes at the Art students League of Denver, the Park Hill Art club, and the Botanical Gardens. He has studied pencil drawing, pastels, charcoal, and colored pencil. Currently his passion is using colored pencil to draw portraits and ballet dancers.

Notes:

Student buys and brings a set of at least 36 colored pencils (Prismacolor are ideal), a container style pencil sharpener, a vinyl eraser, and a kneaded eraser. A 24" X 18" archival acid free drawing pad is also a recommended. Cost ranges from $30-$40 on Amazon or at local art supply stores. If you have taken Begninning Colored Pencils, the supplies yuo have from that class will suffice.
