Monoprinting is a printmaking technique that yields a single, unique image with each print. It is known for its creative freedom and its ability to combine painting and drawing with printmaking.
In this fun and spontaneous class, we will learn to use the gel plate as our printmaking medium. Gel plate printing uses a flexible, transparent plate to create unique artwork. Gel printing is a versatile, easy to learn technique that can be used to create many different effects and is great for experimenting with colors and textures. We will also explore mark-making techniques, creating lines, patterns, and textures with simple tools. Mark-making is a fun way to add areas of interest to the prints. Monoprints can be displayed as unique pieces of art or used as elements of other mixed media creations. They can also be cut into smaller elements for greeting cards or handmade books. By using fabric instead of paper, monoprints can be used as fabric decoration and design. Leave this class understanding basic ways to use the gel plate and with additional resources to help you explore monoprinting on your own. Each student will create 10 - 20 prints depending on the level of detail. A variety of paper types will be available. This class is perfect for beginners, but those with some background may learn a few tips as well. Come ready to explore and create!

Lisa MacKenzie loves exploring all kinds of ways to make art. She provides students with a fun and open space to learn new skills and experiment with a variety of art supplies.
