Sometimes called the Basket Makers' Flute (and once known as Anasazi Flutes), this is the oldest known kind of wooden flute in North America, dating back to the Basketmaker III period (620-670 CE). The Ancestral Pueblo Flutes are rim-blown, not end-blown like modern Native American Flutes. They are more difficult to play, but well worth the effort as the sound is beautiful. Tom Farber has been teaching CFU students to play the Native American flute for five years and students rave about his patience and teaching skill. Stan Loftness has been crafting flutes for years and has found the secret to making them so that novice players have an easier time producing sound. Together, Stan and Tom offer this opportunity for you to learn about the flute and to give playing a try. Stan will bring flutes to class for you to use, so there is no cost to dip your toe in.

Practice flutes will be provided at no charge in class. The optional materials fee is for those who want to purchase theirs to take home.

Notes:

$30 Optional materials fee payable in class
Fee: $36.00
