In this hands-on class you will learn to groom your own dog. Dog grooming can be expensive and stressful for your dog. You can learn to do it yourself, either at home or at a self-wash salon. Start with knowing what you need to have and how to use the equipment: brush, comb, scissors, clippers, table, grooming arm, and grooming loop. Next learn techniques-the mechanics of grooming and how to work with your dog's coat type. There are many ways to style the same breed, and you will get to explore the possibilities. Let your imagination run wild…or not.
You will work on your own dog, scissoring and clippering, under the supervision of Wendy Miner, a certified Master Groomer since 2003. Wendy has been grooming since 1988 and opened her first salon in 2001. She held various board positions on the state-wide groomers' association. Wendy started teaching pet professionals and pet owners about grooming over 10 years ago. She gets joy from helping people care for their own dogs.

This class presumes a certain level of experience. Please take Wendy's Bathing and Maintenance class first or check in with the instructor to determine if you have the requisite basic experience for this class.

$2 materials fee paid in class. Dogs must be dog- and people-friendly. If you have grooming equipment of your own, please bring it with you to class. Prerequisite: Course #6700 or grooming experience. Contact instructor if you have not taken the Maintenance class.
